Twelve people are dead after a wildfire swept through Almeria province in southern Spain, with some victims found inside vehicles overtaken by the flames. The fire broke out Thursday afternoon near Los Gallardos and, fanned by high temperatures, low humidity and strong winds, raced into the neighboring municipality of Bedar. At least six people were injured and around 1,000 residents were evacuated. About 150 firefighters, backed by aircraft and helicopters, worked through the night.
