WHO has declared a global health emergency over a Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in DR Congo and Uganda. As of June 3, Congo reported over 340 confirmed cases and 60 deaths across two dozen health zones in three provinces, with Ituri hardest hit; Uganda confirmed 15 cases and one death. There is no approved vaccine or specific treatment for the Bundibugyo strain. Contact tracing is reaching under half of exposed people, well below the 90 percent needed. Researchers are preparing trials of candidate vaccines and antibody treatments, including a Bundibugyo vaccine from Oxford and the Serum Institute of India.
