Global drug use hit a record in 2024: 331 million people, 6.2% of adults aged 15-64, used a drug, up from 5.2% a decade ago. North America leads the world in cannabis, opioid and amphetamine use. Cannabis stays the most common drug at 256 million users. Source: UN World Drug Report 2026.
