US disrupts Chinese state-linked hacking operation that breached NASA, Federal Reserve, DOJ and Senate

The U.S. Justice Department says it disrupted a China-linked hacking operation that breached NASA, the Federal Reserve, DOJ and other agencies, per USA TODAY and DOJ.

The U.S. Justice Department announced on August 26, 2026 that it had disrupted a Chinese state-sponsored hacking operation. Court documents allege a PRC state-sponsored group called QTFY, tied to Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology Company, operated two hacking platforms called QScan and QTRouter, used to breach NASA, the Federal Reserve, the Departments of Justice, Energy and Health and Human Services, the National Institutes of Health, and the U.S. Senate. QScan scanned and infected thousands of IoT devices worldwide, which were added to the QTRouter network used to conceal the hackers' origin. The DOJ and FBI seized the domains behind both platforms.
