President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on August 15 that Ukrainian forces used domestically-made Flamingo cruise missiles to strike the Progress Space Rocket Centre in Russia's Samara region, about 900 km from the Ukrainian border. Progress builds the Soyuz-2 family of launch vehicles, used to place Russian military and reconnaissance satellites into orbit and to launch satellites for Rassvet, Russia's planned Starlink-style broadband constellation. Ukraine's General Staff said units struck the facility with a direct hit, sparking a fire on site. The same night, Ukrainian long-range weapons also struck the Savasleyka airfield in Nizhny Novgorod region (about 700 km from Ukraine), which hosts MiG-31K jets that carry Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles, and an oil facility at the port of Ust-Luga in Leningrad region (about 800 km from the border).
