Rescuers in Nepal's Rasuwa district pulled two workers alive from the Trishuli 3A hydropower tunnel on September 4, nine days after floods triggered by a partial glacier collapse devastated Himalayan valleys on August 26. Nepal's home affairs minister identified the men as Sanjay Shah, 30, a mechanical foreman, and Kabir Maharjan, 45, a mechanical supervisor; both were reported in stable condition and flown to a hospital in Kathmandu. At least 557 workers remain missing from the Trishuli 3A project alone, with about 115 believed trapped in the main tunnel, according to the Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal. Nationwide, at least 1,259 people have been confirmed killed and more than 5,000 remain missing across Nepal and Tibet, per Nepal's disaster management agency and Chinese authorities. About 900 workers are missing from 12 hydropower projects nationwide, with roughly 500 believed trapped in tunnels. Officials say a survivor told rescuers that more people remain alive inside.
