It is the first joint release since SpaceX folded Cursor maker Anysphere into its AI business in June, and it is available in Cursor on all plans and through the SpaceXAI console. Elon Musk described the model as roughly comparable to Anthropic's Opus 4.7 but much faster. One group is excluded at launch: the model is not yet available in the EU, per Axios and the companies' own announcements. European developers, who work under the AI Act's transparency and risk regime, once again wait while US customers get immediate access. The pattern has repeated across major AI releases, and it quietly shifts where cutting-edge development work happens first. The release also marks a strategic point for SpaceX's AI ambitions. The Cursor acquisition gives the company a direct channel into enterprise software development, one of the few AI markets with proven willingness to pay. Coding assistants from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google compete on model quality and price, and a fast model with an installed base of Cursor users enters that fight with distribution already in place rather than starting from zero.
