Russia's Supreme Court has barred Yabloko, the only officially registered political party that opposes Moscow's war in Ukraine, from contesting September's parliamentary elections. The court ruled that Yabloko violated the law by receiving funds from individuals who had themselves received financing from foreign states. It also found the party committed copyright infringement in its campaign materials, including the unauthorized use of photos of public figures and excerpts from a feature film. The lawsuit was brought by the nationalist Rodina party. Yabloko chair Nikolay Rybakov told reporters the party will appeal the ruling within the five-day period the law provides. This removes the last party on the ballot with an anti-war platform, ahead of elections scheduled for September 18-20.
