Civilians in Kyiv apartment blocks were killed in their homes overnight as Russia launched one of the largest aerial assaults on Ukraine of the war: 73 missiles and 656 drones fired across the country in a single barrage, according to Ukraine's air force. At least 14 people are dead and more than 100 wounded across Ukraine. In Kyiv, four were killed and 63 injured, including three children, the State Emergency Service said. The central city of Dnipro and the eastern cities of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Poltava were also hit. In Kyiv's Podilskyi district, a nine-story residential building was hit in what Ukrainian officials describe as a double-tap strike. Rescuers are searching for people trapped under the rubble. Buildings in the Solomianskyi district, including a 24-story tower, were also damaged. Eight Zircon hypersonic anti-ship missiles were fired in two waves of four, according to Defense Express citing Ukrainian air force data. None of the eight were intercepted. Ukrainian air defenses brought down 40 of the 73 missiles and 602 of the 656 drones overall, but the warheads that reached their targets struck 38 separate sites across the country. The attack came days after Russia warned foreign diplomats to leave Kyiv, according to Ukrainian and Western officials cited by CNN.
