Pinterest signs 4 billion dollar cloud and AI deal with Amazon Web Services through 2031

Pinterest $PINS just made the biggest infrastructure commitment in its history: $4 billion on Amazon $AMZN Web Services through 2031. The deal, announced June 4, covers AI model training on AWS Trainium chips, inference and general compute on Graviton processors, and a migration from EC2-based environments to a Kubernetes architecture. Trainium will host and run the large language models and vision-language models behind Pinterest's personalized visual search and AI-assisted discovery, features serving more than 600 million monthly users. Graviton already runs roughly one-third of Pinterest's infrastructure. The agreement extends a relationship with AWS that dates back to 2010, and it is another data point in a pattern that has defined 2026: consumer platforms locking in multi-year cloud capacity to secure AI compute, and Amazon converting that demand into commitments for its in-house silicon rather than Nvidia GPUs alone. For AWS, landing Trainium workloads at a marquee consumer brand strengthens the case for its custom chip strategy against Microsoft and Google, which are pushing their own accelerators.
