Nvidia in talks to invest in Perplexity at valuation above 30 billion dollars as its annualized revenue triples
Nvidia $NVDA is in talks to invest in Perplexity at a valuation above $30B, over 50% higher than its ~$20B round a year ago, per The Information. Perplexity's annualized revenue has climbed above $750M, up from under $250M in January.
Nvidia $NVDA is in talks to invest in Perplexity through a new financing round that could value the AI search startup at more than $30 billion, according to The Information. If completed at that level, the round would represent an increase of more than 50% over Perplexity's previous valuation of roughly $20 billion, set about a year ago. The talks coincide with rapid revenue growth at Perplexity: its annualized revenue has climbed above $750 million, up from less than $250 million at the start of the year. Commercial ties between Nvidia and Perplexity have also strengthened over the same period. Nothing has been finalized, and terms could still change. For Nvidia, the move extends a pattern of taking equity stakes in AI companies that also buy its chips, tying its balance sheet to the same customers driving its revenue. For Perplexity, an investment at this valuation would mark a major step toward the roughly $30 billion mark it has reportedly targeted ahead of a possible 2028 IPO.
