NASA's Psyche spacecraft completes Mars gravity assist - flyby May 15, 2026 en route to metal asteroid

NASA's Psyche spacecraft passed within 2,800 miles of Mars at 12,000 mph on May 15, using the planet's gravity to bend its path toward a metal-rich asteroid. The probe launched October 2023 and arrives at the asteroid Psyche in August 2029.
