The leak sits in the PrK vestibule connecting the aft port of the aging Zvezda service module. Hairline cracks were first noticed there in 2019; the leak stabilized in January but regrew in early May. NASA acted after Roscosmos planned to cut a bracket to reach a suspected leak source, a step it said could have raised risk to the structure. Roscosmos then paused full repairs and ran measurements only, and the crew returned to normal operations.
