NASA named the Artemis III crew: Randy Bresnik (commander), Luca Parmitano (ESA, pilot), Frank Rubio and Andre Douglas (mission specialists), Bob Hines backup. Under Administrator Jared Isaacman's revamped plan, Artemis III is now a test mission, not the landing, launching on Orion atop SLS from Kennedy Space Center as soon as late 2027 to practice docking with SpaceX and Blue Origin landers. The roughly two-week flight is the program's final test before a crewed surface landing on Artemis IV, as early as 2028. China is aiming to land its own crew by 2030.
