NASA astronaut Jessica Meir and ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot began a spacewalk at 8:40 a.m. EDT on Sept. 1, 2026, to replace a retroflector, install jumper cables, prepare the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer for future maintenance, and replace a high-definition camera outside the International Space Station. NASA said the spacewalkers would spend about six and a half hours outside the station. It was Meir's seventh spacewalk, Adenot's third, and the 284th spacewalk at the station since 1998 - also the fourth spacewalk outside the outpost in the past month. Source: NASA.
