Meta launches $299 Meta Glasses with EssilorLuxottica running Muse Spark AI

Meta $META is now selling smart glasses starting at $299, eighty dollars below last year's Ray-Ban Meta. The new Adventurer and Fury models went on sale June 23 in the US, UK, Germany, France and other markets, built with EssilorLuxottica and running Meta AI on its new Muse Spark

Meta is pushing harder into wearables, and it is doing so by cutting the price. On June 23 the company began selling Meta Glasses, a new line built with Ray-Ban parent EssilorLuxottica, with the Adventurer and Fury models starting at $299. That is about eighty dollars below the second-generation Ray-Ban Meta glasses that launched last year. A premium Starfire model, designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner, sells for $399. Notably, the new glasses drop the Ray-Ban and Oakley branding while keeping much of the existing hardware: the same 12-megapixel camera, 3K video capture, five-microphone array and roughly eight-hour battery life as the prior generation, with the charging case adding around 40 more hours. Buyers in the US, Canada, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and other European markets can order them now, with 26 color and lens combinations across the two base models and support for prescription lenses. The bigger story for Meta $META is the software. The glasses run Meta AI powered by Muse Spark, described as the first AI model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, the unit Mark Zuckerberg has been building out aggressively. By lowering the entry price and putting its newest AI model on the face of everyday eyewear, Meta is trying to turn smart glasses from a novelty into a mainstream computing surface, and to get there before Apple brings its own rumored device to market. Whether consumers want an AI assistant on their glasses at scale is the open question the price cut is designed to test.
