Meta $META and its eyewear partner EssilorLuxottica have introduced a new smart-glasses brand called Meta Glasses, with prices starting at $299. The move separates the product from the established Ray-Ban Meta name and is aimed at reaching a broader, more price-sensitive audience. The new line spans 26 styles across three frame designs, including a collaboration collection, and ships with the same core hardware: a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, 3K video recording, a five-microphone array for voice commands and calls, open-ear speakers and a dedicated button that launches the Meta AI assistant. Battery life is rated at more than eight hours. The glasses went on sale Tuesday in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and other European markets. The starting price undercuts earlier Meta eyewear, which positions the device less as a niche gadget and more as a mainstream accessory. By pricing below its previous frames and launching across multiple markets at once, Meta is moving its eyewear toward wider distribution and putting affordable AI glasses into circulation ahead of competing wearables expected from other large technology firms.
