The outbreak surfaced after New York agriculture inspectors found Listeria in an unopened container, and on June 18 the company expanded its recall to every cheese product it makes. Matching samples date back to 2023, suggesting the contamination persisted in the production environment for years before it was caught. Listeria is especially dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Anyone with recalled cheese should discard it and clean any surface it touched.
