Lantronix $LTRX and DoD Solution, an Estonian-Ukrainian developer of drone autonomy software, announced Tuesday that they have completed integration of DoD Solution's AURA AI onboard platform with Lantronix's Qualcomm-based Open-Q 6490CS edge compute hardware. The combined system is built into FPV drones, fixed-wing UAVs and interceptor systems currently used in Ukraine's defense, and is designed to handle navigation, target recognition, tracking and terminal guidance entirely onboard the aircraft, without relying on a continuous GPS signal or communications link back to an operator. That distinction matters because Russian electronic warfare units have made jamming GPS and drone control links their primary defense against Ukrainian FPV and interceptor drones for most of the war, forcing operators to fly in increasingly contested, communications-degraded conditions. A drone that can identify and track a target on its own, without needing a live link, is not vulnerable to that specific countermeasure in the same way.
