Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it carried out missile and drone strikes overnight against US targets in the Gulf, naming the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and an air and helicopter base in a neighboring country. In its statement, the Guard described the operation as retaliation for recent US strikes on Iranian sites, including what it called a ground station on Qeshm Island in southern Iran. US Central Command gave a contradicting account. CENTCOM said all of the Iranian attacks on American forces were unsuccessful, with missiles and drones either intercepted by air defenses or failing to reach their targets. It reported no harm to US personnel. American and partner forces said they had struck an Iranian ground control station on Qeshm Island in self defense. Authorities in Bahrain issued air raid alerts and emergency warnings as the launches were detected. Independent confirmation of damage at the Fifth Fleet headquarters or the named air base has not been released by either government. Separately, an Iranian drone and missile attack on Kuwait during the same hours killed one civilian and wounded several others, according to Kuwaiti authorities cited by regional outlets.
