Indonesia has shut down every entrance to Mount Bromo, one of its most visited volcanoes, as a wildfire spreads across the crater floor of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java. The fire has burned since Monday, growing from about 60 hectares on Thursday to roughly 176 hectares by Saturday. Park chief Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha closed all five entrance gates at 10pm local time Saturday to let firefighting crews work without managing tourist crowds. Water-bombing helicopters and spraying drones have been deployed, and flames have also spread toward neighboring Mount Kursi. No injuries have been reported and no reopening date has been set.
