India Records 200 Heatwave Days in 2024

India recorded 200 heatwave days in 2024, the most since 2012, with a peak temperature of 52.3C, per Indian Meteorological Department data charted by Statista. From 2010 to 2024 the country averaged 130.6 heatwave days per year. At least 37 people have died in the current heatwave since April.
