Rheinmetall $RHM has secured a Bundeswehr framework agreement for its FV-014 loitering munition, a one way autonomous strike drone designed to locate, observe and attack targets after launch. The framework is valued at up to 2.4 billion euros, with an initial order of roughly 298 million euros. The system is intended in part for the Lithuania Brigade, the German formation tasked with anchoring NATO's eastern flank. The important detail is the schedule. Deliveries are set to begin in the first half of 2027, following system qualification. That gap between signing and fielding is the real constraint on European deterrence right now.
