Fish Stocks at Unsustainable Levels Keep Rising
The share of fish stocks fished at unsustainable levels worldwide rose to 37.7 percent in 2021, up from 35.4 percent in 2019 and 10 percent in 1974, per FAO data charted by Statista. The most overexploited regions, like the Mediterranean and Black Sea, see 50 to 65 percent of stocks overfished.
