The Ebola disease outbreak caused by Bundibugyo virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda continues to spread, according to the latest WHO and DRC Ministry of Health figures published on May 28, 2026. The DRC reports 125 confirmed cases including 17 deaths, plus 906 suspected cases including 223 deaths. Confirmed cases are spread across the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu. Uganda reports 9 confirmed cases including 1 death; at least three of those were linked to travel from DRC.
