CENTCOM launches Task Force Falcon Strike, first multinational attack drone force
US Central Command has stood up Task Force Falcon Strike, its first multi-domain, multinational attack drone unit, built to operate in the air, on the sea surface, and underwater. It builds on Task Force Scorpion Strike and comes amid the ongoing US war with Iran.
US Central Command announced Task Force Falcon Strike on August 13, 2026, the first multi-domain, multinational attack drone task force, combining US personnel with regional partners to operate one-way attack drones from the air, the sea surface, and underwater. It expands on Task Force Scorpion Strike, established in December 2025, which already launched an aerial attack drone from a US Navy warship, struck Iran during Operation Epic Fury, and attacked Iranian port facilities with unmanned surface vessels in July. Falcon Strike adds an underwater one-way attack component CENTCOM has not previously acknowledged fielding in combat, and will be led by Special Operations Command Central at MacDill Air Force Base. CENTCOM has begun inviting regional partner nations to join but has not named which countries are involved.
