Carnival Corporation has confirmed a cyberattack that exposed personal data of nearly 6 million customers. The hacker group ShinyHunters used social engineering to gain access to a Carnival employee account on April 14. Stolen data includes names, addresses, dates of birth, phone numbers, and driver's license and passport numbers. Notifications began May 27.

Carnival began notifying customers on May 27 and is offering two years of free credit monitoring through TransUnion. ShinyHunters claims it stole more than 8 million records.
