ByteDance is considering capital expenditures of as much as $70 billion in 2026 as the Chinese tech giant builds out data centers and other AI infrastructure, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday. According to Bloomberg, the figure would mark a sharp step up from the company's prior plans. ByteDance is expected to fund much of the outlay through roughly $50 billion in profit it earned in 2025, sources told the news service. The numbers are preliminary and subject to revision at least every quarter. ByteDance, best known for TikTok and Douyin, also operates Doubao, China's most popular AI chatbot. The company develops a range of AI foundation models and has been investing in compute capacity as Chinese players push to close the gap with leading US labs. Source: Bloomberg
