Relief access is collapsing in southeastern Bangladesh just as the flooding peaks. More than 750,000 people are stranded: at least 450,000 around Chattogram, where Satkania, Lohagara, Chandanaish and Banshkhali are worst hit, and over 300,000 in Cox's Bazar, where 150 villages across all 10 upazilas are under water, per bdnews24. The Daily Star puts the death toll at 33, with 19 of the deaths in Cox's Bazar. Landslides at the Rohingya refugee camps killed eight people, five of them children, according to AP. The logistics picture explains why the numbers keep climbing. Train service between Chattogram and Cox's Bazar has been suspended since tracks went under water, and boat routes to St Martin's, Maheshkhali and Kutubdia are closed. That leaves flooded villages dependent on road access that the same rains are washing out. The Bangladesh Army has begun rescuing stranded tourists in Rangamati's Sajek Valley, and forecasters warn of another 48 to 72 hours of heavy rainfall.
