For about a century, astronomers have suspected that Betelgeuse isn't alone. A team led by Miguel Montarges used ESO's Very Large Telescope in Chile's Atacama Desert to capture the clearest image yet of its companion, nicknamed Betelgeuse B, which turned out two to three times more massive than predicted. One more observation, about a year from now, is needed to fully confirm the discovery.
