American Airlines $AAL said Tuesday that it will install SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet on around 500 narrowbody Airbus aircraft beginning in early 2027. According to CNBC, the deal covers the A319, A320, A321, A321neo and A321XLR families. American's roughly 500 Boeing jets, which currently use Viasat and Panasonic systems, are not part of the agreement, and neither are the regional aircraft operated under the American Eagle brand. The carrier said the service will support streaming, video calls and gaming in flight. Starlink's aero terminal can deliver up to 1 Gbps per antenna. United, Southwest and Alaska Airlines have already picked Starlink as a Wi-Fi provider. Delta in March opted instead for Amazon's Leo low-Earth-orbit service for hundreds of jets, with service expected to begin in 2028. Source: CNBC
