At the ILA Berlin Air Show, Airbus revealed the U145, an uncrewed version of its widely used H145 helicopter. The cockpit is replaced with a redesigned nose door, a foldable loading table and a dedicated cargo floor, and it can carry up to 3.8 tonnes. Twin Safran engines provide power while a sensor suite and onboard AI handle full autonomous flight. Airbus calls the design mission-agnostic, aiming it at cargo supply, disaster relief, firefighting, surveillance, armed scouting and even acting as a mothership for smaller air-launched drones with MBDA. Building on a helicopter family with more than eight million flight hours, Airbus expects faster certification. A first flight with a safety pilot is planned for late 2026, with entry into service early in the next decade.
